Email accounts are created from different places in cPanel and mybox. In cPanel, mailboxes are usually created from the Email Accounts section. In mybox, mailboxes are created from the Emails section in the left-side menu.
This article explains where to create a new email account in mybox, what the mailbox settings mean, and where to find the information needed for email applications such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or Gmail.
Table of Contents
Where email accounts are created in cPanel
In cPanel, email accounts are usually created by going to:
Email → Email Accounts
From this section, you select the domain, enter the mailbox name, set a password, and create the account.
For example, to create [email protected], you would select example.com as the domain and enter contact as the mailbox name.
Where email accounts are created in mybox
In mybox, email accounts are created from the Emails section.
To create a new mailbox:
- Log in to your mybox account.
- Select Emails from the left-side menu.
- Click Add at the top of the email list.

- Set the mailbox password.
- Enter the phone number connected to the mailbox, if required.

Fields in the Add new mailbox window
When you click Add, mybox opens the Add new mailbox window. This window contains the main settings for the new mailbox.
New e-mail address
This is the full email address you want to create, for example:
The domain must already be available in your mybox service before you can create a mailbox for it.
If mail is not active for the domain yet, see How Can I Activate Mail Options for My Domain?.
Password
This is the password for the mailbox. It is used when logging in to webmail or when configuring the mailbox in an external email application.
Use a secure password and store it safely. If the mailbox password needs to be changed later, see Change Email Password.
Phone number
The phone number field is used as part of the mailbox setup. Enter the phone number in the format shown in the panel.
Account limit
The account limit defines how much storage the mailbox can use.
Available options may include:
- 0.5 GB
- 2 GB
- 5 GB
- Custom limit
- Without limit
Choose a limit based on how the mailbox will be used. A general contact mailbox, sales mailbox, or frequently used business mailbox may need more storage than a rarely used address.

Active anti-spam filters
This setting controls the anti-spam protection used for the mailbox.
The Recommended option enables the standard recommended filters. This option is suitable for most mailboxes.
The Custom option allows you to adjust the anti-spam configuration manually.

Filter sensitivity
Filter sensitivity controls how strictly incoming messages are checked.
Available options may include:
- Low
- Medium
- High
Medium is usually recommended because it balances spam protection with normal email delivery.
If expected messages are not arriving, see Possible Problems Receiving E-mails.
Mailbox description
The option I want to add a description to the mailbox lets you add an internal description. This can help identify the mailbox later, especially when there are many email accounts on the same service.
For example, you can use descriptions such as Main contact address, Invoices, or Sales team.
Aliases
The Aliases tab lets you manage additional email addresses that can point to the same mailbox.
An alias is not a separate mailbox. It is another address that delivers messages to the mailbox you are creating or managing.
For example, [email protected] can be used as an alias for [email protected] if both addresses should reach the same mailbox.

| POP3 | pop3.mybox.com | 110 / SSL: 995 |

cPanel vs mybox: practical difference
| Task | cPanel | mybox |
|---|---|---|
| Create a mailbox | Email Accounts section | Emails section |
| Add a new mailbox | Create button inside Email Accounts | Add button at the top of the Emails page |
| Set mailbox storage | During mailbox creation | Account limit in the Add new mailbox window |
| Configure spam filtering | Spam Filters or mailbox settings | Active anti-spam filters during mailbox creation |
| Add aliases | Forwarders, aliases, or email routing tools depending on setup | Aliases tab in the Add new mailbox window |
| Open webmail | Webmail or Email Accounts section | Webmail option in the Emails section |
| Check mail client settings | Email configuration area | Configuration panel on the right side |
The main difference is the layout. In cPanel, email tools are spread across several email-related sections. In mybox, mailbox creation, mailbox limits, anti-spam settings, aliases, webmail access, and configuration details are available from the Emails section.
What to check if the mailbox does not receive messages
Creating an email account only creates the mailbox. For incoming messages to arrive in mybox, the domain must also send email traffic to mybox.
If the domain uses mybox nameservers, the required mail records are usually handled from the mybox DNS zone.
If the domain uses external DNS, make sure the MX records point to mybox. Without the correct MX records, messages may still be delivered to another email provider or hosting service.
