You can manage spam protection for your mybox email accounts either globally (for multiple addresses at once) or individually. This allows you to balance high-security filtering with the need to ensure important emails are always delivered.
Table of Contents
Collective Management
If you manage several email accounts, you can apply security settings in bulk to save time.
- Navigate to the email address list in your dashboard.
- Select the mailboxes you wish to modify using the checkboxes on the left.
- Choose Edit Anti-SPAM filters at the bottom of the list.
- Select your protection level:
- Recommended: The standard configuration optimized by mybox.
- Custom: Allows you to manually toggle GreyList, RBL, and SPF checks.
- Set the Filter Sensitivity (Low to High) based on the volume of spam you are receiving.
- Click Save Settings.
Individual Management
To adjust settings for a single specific mailbox, you can access the configuration through three different paths in the dashboard:
- Anti-Spam Button: Click the icon directly to the right of your domain name.
- Actions Menu: Select Actions next to the specific mailbox and choose Edit Anti-Spam.
- Mailbox Details: Click the mailbox name (or the Details button), then select the Spam Filters tab.
Each of these options opens the same configuration form where you can toggle custom filters and adjust sensitivity levels.
Managing Blacklists and Whitelists
Global lists allow you to explicitly block or authorize specific senders for all your email addresses.
- Whitelist (Authorized): Ensures messages from these senders are never marked as spam.
- Blacklist (Blocked): Automatically moves messages from these senders to the SPAM folder (accessible via IMAP).
Supported Address Formats
You can use wildcards (*) to block or allow entire domains or specific patterns:
[email protected](Specific address)*@domain.com(All addresses from a specific domain)*@*.ro(All addresses from a specific TLD)
To add a sender, click Add Sender, choose the list type (Trusted or Blocked), and enter the address. To remove a sender, click Delete next to their entry in the list.
Practical Implications
- Filter Sensitivity: Increasing sensitivity to “High” may occasionally catch legitimate newsletters. If you notice “clean” mail going to the spam folder, consider lowering the sensitivity or whitelisting the sender.
- Syncing Changes: Changes to spam filters and blacklists take effect almost immediately across all platforms, including webmail and desktop clients.
- SpamAssassin Requirement: Manual blacklists and whitelists only function when Cleanbox (SpamAssassin) protection is active on the account.
Summary
Spam management in mybox is flexible, allowing for both broad “Recommended” settings and granular “Custom” control. By utilizing global Blacklists and Whitelists, you can proactively define your own perimeter of trust for your correspondence.
