LiteSpeed (LiteSpeed Web Server, LSWS) is a web server - the software responsible for receiving browser requests and delivering website files in response. mybox uses LiteSpeed as its standard web server on all hosting plans.

How LiteSpeed handles requests
When a visitor opens a website, their browser sends an HTTP/HTTPS request to the server. LiteSpeed receives that request, locates the relevant files, and sends them back to the browser for display.
LiteSpeed uses an event-driven architecture, which allows it to handle a large number of simultaneous connections without launching a separate process for each one. This reduces memory usage and keeps response times stable under load.
Key features
HTTP/3 and QUIC support LiteSpeed supports the HTTP/3 protocol, which reduces connection setup time and improves performance on unstable networks.
Built-in caching LiteSpeed includes a native caching layer that stores generated page content and serves it without re-executing PHP on every request. For WordPress, this works in combination with the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, which provides full control over what is cached and when it expires.
ModSecurity integration LiteSpeed includes ModSecurity, a web application firewall that filters malicious requests and blocks common attack patterns including SQL injection, XSS, and DDoS attempts.
LSPHP LiteSpeed uses its own PHP handler, LSPHP, which processes PHP requests more efficiently than the traditional mod_php approach used by older server configurations.
LiteSpeed and WordPress
LiteSpeed is fully compatible with WordPress, Joomla, and other popular CMS platforms. The LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress integrates directly with the server’s caching layer - enabling page caching, image optimization, and CSS/JS minification without additional infrastructure.
