mail.mybox.com is the primary interface for managing your email communication. Beyond sending and receiving messages, it provides server-level tools to organize your inbox and manage security through advanced anti-spam filters.

Context
This guide explains how to manage your email environment directly through the mail.mybox.com web interface. Settings configured here are applied at the server level, meaning your filters and rules will be consistent across all devices and email programs (like Outlook or Apple Mail) connected to your account.
Managing Email Filters
Filters allow you to automatically sort incoming mail into specific folders based on rules you define.
Adding a Filter
- Quick Setup: Select a message in your inbox, click More in the top panel, and choose Create Filter. This automatically populates the filter rules based on that specific sender.
- Manual Setup: Navigate to Settings > Filters. Here you can create a new filter by defining specific criteria (such as the sender, subject, or keywords) and choosing an action (such as moving the message to a specific folder).
Filter Sets
A “Filter Set” is a collection of rules.
- You can create multiple sets, but only one can be active at a time.
- To create a set, click the plus icon or gear icon under the “Filters” column.
- You can also upload existing filter files if you are migrating from another service.
Disabling or Removing Filters
- Disable: If you want to stop a filter temporarily without deleting it, select the Filter Disabled option.
- Remove: To permanently delete a rule or an entire set, select the item and use the gear icon to choose Remove.
Managing Cleanbox (Anti-Spam)
mail.mybox.com includes advanced management for SpamAssassin, our primary filtering engine. To access these settings, go to Settings > Cleanbox.
- Anti-Spam Filter: Adjust the sensitivity level for incoming messages. A higher sensitivity will be more aggressive in marking suspicious emails as spam.
- Address Rules (Whitelists & Blacklists):
- Trusted Addresses: Emails from these senders will always bypass spam filters.
- Blocked Addresses: Emails from these senders will be automatically rejected.
- Wildcards: You can block entire domains by using the
*@domain.comformat.
Practical Implications
- Server-Side Sync: Because these filters run on the mybox infrastructure, they process mail before it reaches your phone or computer. This keeps your mobile data usage lower and your external apps cleaner.
- Default Protection: Every account starts with a baseline of SpamAssassin and SPF/MX/RBL filtering enabled to ensure immediate security.
- Conflicts: If you have filters set up in both mail.mybox.com and a local program like Outlook, the server-level rules (configured here) will always trigger first.
Summary
Using mail.mybox.com to manage your inbox ensures a consistent experience across all your devices. By utilizing custom filters and Cleanbox address rules, you can automate your workflow and maintain a secure, organized mailbox.
