WooCommerce allows you to create Grouped Products, which are collections of individual products displayed together on a single product page. This feature is useful when you want to sell related items as a bundle while still allowing customers to choose which products and quantities they want to purchase.
Examples of grouped products include:
- Furniture sets (table, chair, cabinet)
- Computer bundles (monitor, keyboard, mouse)
- Sports equipment kits
- Book collections

What Is a Grouped Product?
A grouped product acts as a parent product that displays multiple individual products on a single page.
Unlike product bundles, grouped products:
- Do not create a new combined SKU.
- Allow customers to select quantities for each product separately.
- Keep inventory management at the individual product level.
Creating a Grouped Product
Step 1
Log in to your WordPress administration panel.
Step 2
Navigate to:
Products → Add New
Step 3
Enter the standard product information:
- Product name
- Description
- Product image
- Categories
- Tags
Example:
Office Furniture Set
Step 4
Scroll down to the:
Product Data
section.
Step 5
From the product type dropdown menu, select:
Grouped Product
Once selected, WooCommerce will adjust the available configuration options accordingly.
Step 6
Publish the grouped product.
Adding Products to a Grouped Product
After creating the grouped product, you can assign existing products to it.
Step 1
Edit the grouped product.
Step 2
Navigate to:
Product Data → Linked Products
Step 3
Locate the:
Grouped Products
field.
Step 4
Start typing the name of an existing product.
WooCommerce will display matching products.
Step 5
Select the desired products from the list.
Example:
Office Chair
Desk Lamp
Computer Desk
Step 6
Save or update the product.
The selected products will now appear on the grouped product page.
Hiding Individual Products
In some cases, you may want customers to purchase products only through the grouped product page.
To hide individual products from the catalog:
Step 1
Edit the individual product.
Step 2
Locate the:
Publish
section.
Step 3
Click:
Catalog Visibility
Step 4
Select:
Hidden
Step 5
Update the product.
Repeat this process for each product included in the group.
When configured this way:
- Products remain available within the grouped product.
- Products no longer appear in category listings.
- Products no longer appear in search results.
Managing Grouped Products
Grouped products automatically inherit information from their child products, including:
- Pricing
- Stock status
- Product images
- Inventory levels
If a child product becomes unavailable, WooCommerce will reflect this on the grouped product page.
Best Practices
Use Related Products
Group products that naturally complement one another.
Examples:
| Group Product | Included Products |
|---|---|
| Gaming Setup | Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse |
| Dining Set | Table, Chairs |
| Photography Kit | Camera, Lens, Tripod |
Write a Clear Description
Explain what is included in the group and why the products work well together.
Use High-Quality Images
Consider using a featured image that shows the complete set rather than individual items.
Keep Inventory Separate
Grouped products work best when inventory is managed individually for each included product.
