With traditional hosting, choosing a plan means estimating your future needs upfront – picking storage, CPU, and email limits before you know how your project will grow. Get it wrong and you either overpay or hit a wall.
mybox works differently. Every plan is a starting point, not a ceiling. The base plan is free and permanent. From there, resources and features can be added individually as actual needs emerge without migrating to a new server or changing plans.
This means the main question when choosing is not “how much will I need?” but “where do I start?”

Quick decision guide
Start with One Box if:
- The project is new and traffic is unknown
- It’s a personal site, portfolio, blog, or test environment
- There’s no immediate need for multiple websites or email accounts
- Keeping costs at zero while validating the project matters
One Box can be extended with add-ons at any time: extra storage, websites, mailboxes, SSH, Redis, or CRON without switching plans. Up to 3 Boost Packs can be added, bringing CPU to 5 GHz, RAM to 4 GB, and storage to 20 GB before Flex Box becomes the more economical path.
Start with Flex Box if:
- The project is already live and has measurable traffic
- Multiple websites need to be hosted under one account
- Traffic spikes are expected (seasonal campaigns, promotions) and Elastic Scaling is needed to handle them without manual intervention
- 7-day backup retention matters for the project type
Start with Prime Box if:
- The account needs to host a large number of websites or manage many email accounts (agencies, businesses with multiple departments)
- The baseline resource requirement is high from day one
- Maximum Elastic Scaling headroom (up to 24 GHz / 64 GB RAM) is required
How modularity prevents lock-in
On most hosting platforms, outgrowing a plan means a full migration, new environment, new configuration, potential downtime.
On mybox, resources scale within the same account. Adding a CPU Boost, a Boost Pack, or an additional website slot takes effect immediately with no data migration. If One Box with add-ons eventually becomes less cost-effective than Flex Box, the upgrade is instant and all data stays on the same server.
This means the starting plan is a low-stakes decision. The architecture accommodates growth without forcing premature commitments.
What doesn’t change between plans
Regardless of which plan is chosen, the following remain constant:
- LiteSpeed web server with HTTP/3 support
- Let’s Encrypt SSL auto-activated for every domain
- WordPress auto-installer with AI website builder
- MariaDB databases with unlimited users per database
- PHP versions 5.3–8.4 selectable per website
- Roundcube webmail at mail.mybox.com
- No advertisements, no forced branding
- Servers in Bucharest, Romania – optional Cloudflare integration for global audiences
- GDPR-compliant infrastructure
