Product combinations allow you to offer multiple versions of the same product, such as different sizes, colors, materials, or lengths. Unlike product features, combinations can affect the product’s price, stock quantity, images, and availability.

What Are Product Combinations?
Combinations are variations of a product that customers can select before making a purchase.
Common examples include:
- T-shirt sizes (S, M, L, XL)
- Colors (Black, White, Blue)
- Materials (Cotton, Polyester)
- Lengths (100 cm, 150 cm, 200 cm)
Each combination can have:
- Its own price adjustment
- Separate stock quantity
- Unique SKU or reference number
- Dedicated product image
- Barcode or EAN number
Step 1: Create an Attribute Group
Before creating product variants, you must first create the attributes that will be used.
In the PrestaShop administration panel, navigate to:
Catalog → Attributes & Features
Click:
Add New Attribute Group
Step 2: Configure the Attribute Group
Complete the following fields:
Name
Internal name used within PrestaShop.
Examples:
- Size
- Color
- Material
Public Name
The name visible to customers on the storefront.
Attribute Type
Choose how the attribute will be displayed:

After completing the fields, click:
Save
Step 3: Add Attribute Values
Open the newly created attribute group and click:
Add New Value
For each value, complete:
Attribute Group
Select the attribute group you created.
Value
Enter the attribute value.
Examples:
- Small
- Medium
- Large
- Red
- Blue
- Oak
If the attribute type is Color or Texture, you can additionally:
- Select a color from the palette
- Enter a HEX color code (for example
#008000) - Enter a color name (for example
green) - Upload a texture image
Click:
Save
Repeat the process until all required values have been added.
Step 4: Create a Product with Combinations
Navigate to:
Catalog → Products
Create a new product or edit an existing one.
When creating the product, select:
Product with Combinations
Then open the:
Combinations
section.
Step 5: Generate Product Combinations
In the combinations section:
- Select the attribute values you want to use.
- Choose the relevant sizes, colors, materials, or other options.
- Click:
Generate
PrestaShop will automatically create all possible combinations based on the selected attributes.
Step 6: Configure Each Combination
After generating the combinations, a list of variants will appear.
You can:
- Set price adjustments
- Define stock quantities
- Configure availability
- Assign product references
- Set EAN or JAN codes
- Add barcodes
To edit a specific combination, click the pencil icon next to it.
Step 7: Assign Images to Variants
Within the combination settings, you can assign specific product images to individual variants.
For example:
- Red shirt → Red product image
- Blue shirt → Blue product image
When customers select a variant, the corresponding image will be displayed automatically.
Step 8: Save the Product
After configuring all combinations and their settings, click:
Save
The product and its variants will now be available in your store.

A T-shirt product could have:
Attribute: Size
- S

- L
Attribute: Color
- Black
- White
PrestaShop will generate the following combinations:
- Black / S
- Black / M
- Black / L
- White / S
- White / M
- White / L
Each combination can have its own stock level and price adjustment.
