If your website is hosted with another provider, but you want to use only mybox email services, you can configure your domain so that email is handled by mybox while the website continues to operate from external servers.
There are two possible scenarios:

- Domain Not Using mybox DNS Servers
- Domain Using mybox DNS Servers
Domain Not Using mybox DNS Servers
If your domain will continue using DNS servers from another provider, follow these steps.
Step 1: Add the Domain to mybox
First, add (park) the domain in the mybox Panel.
This prepares the mail infrastructure and allows you to create mailboxes for the domain.
You may see warnings indicating that the domain is not delegated to mybox DNS servers. This is expected and can be ignored.
Step 2: Update DNS Records at Your Current Provider
Log in to the DNS management panel where your domain is currently managed.
Replace the existing MX records with:
mx-1.mybox.com
mx-2.mybox.com Add or update the SPF record:
v=spf1 include:_mail.mybox.com -all Add a DMARC record:
Host:
_dmarc.yourdomain.com Value:
v=DMARC1; p=none; sp=none; rua=mailto:[email protected] DKIM Record
The DKIM record is unique for every domain.
You can obtain the correct DKIM value from the DNS Zone section of the mybox Panel.
Example format:
Host:
mybox._domainkey.yourdomain.com
Value:
v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=PUBLIC_KEY_FROM_MYBOX_PANEL Important: Use the DKIM key generated specifically for your domain. Do not copy example values.
After adding the DKIM record with your external DNS provider, contact support if additional verification is required.
Step 3: Wait for DNS Propagation
DNS changes require propagation across the internet.
This process can take up to:
24 hours During this period, some users may still see the previous mail configuration.
Step 4: Create Mailboxes
Once the DNS records are configured correctly, create your email accounts in the mybox Panel.
After propagation completes, email will begin flowing through mybox servers.
Domain Using mybox DNS Servers
If you want to fully delegate DNS management to mybox, follow these steps.
Step 1: Add the Domain
Add (park) the domain in the mybox Panel.
Initially, you may receive warnings indicating that the domain is not yet delegated. This is normal.
Step 2: Configure Website Records
If your website remains hosted elsewhere, edit the DNS zone in mybox and configure the appropriate A records to point to your external web server.
For example:
A yourdomain.com 203.0.113.10
A www 203.0.113.10 Replace the IP address with the one provided by your website hosting provider.
Step 3: Create Mailboxes
In the mybox Panel, go to:
Email and create the mailboxes you want to use.
If you are migrating from another provider, you can import existing messages into the newly created mailboxes.
Step 4: Change the Domain Nameservers
At your domain registrar, replace the current nameservers with:
ns1.mybox.com
ns2.mybox.com Step 5: Wait for Propagation
After updating the nameservers, DNS propagation can take up to:
24 hours During this period, website and email services may gradually switch to the new configuration.
Step 6: Verify Email Service Activation
After propagation is complete:
- Confirm that the MX records point to mybox.
- Verify that mailboxes can send and receive messages.
- Check that SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are present and valid.
Summary
If you want to use mybox email while keeping your website elsewhere:
Without Moving DNS
Configure:
MX mx-1.mybox.com
MX mx-2.mybox.com
SPF v=spf1 include:_mail.mybox.com -all
DMARC v=DMARC1; p=none; sp=none
DKIM Generated individually in the mybox Panel With DNS Delegated to mybox
- Add the domain to mybox.
- Create the necessary A records pointing to the external web server.
- Create mailboxes.
- Change nameservers to:
ns1.mybox.com
ns2.mybox.com - Wait for propagation to complete.
This allows you to use mybox email services independently of where your website is hosted.
