If you use Redis for caching or application performance optimization, there may be situations where you need to restart or stop the Redis service. This can be useful when:
- Applying configuration changes.
- Troubleshooting cache-related issues.
- Clearing cached data.
- Temporarily disabling Redis.
- Restarting the service after maintenance.
You can manage the Redis server directly from the mybox Panel.
Table of Contents
Step 1: Open the Redis Server Section
Log in to the mybox Panel.
From the left-hand menu, navigate to:
Advanced → Redis Server
The Redis management page will display the Redis instances available on your account.
Step 2: Open the Actions Menu
Locate the Redis server you want to manage.
On the right side of the server entry, click:
Actions
A menu containing available management options will appear.
Step 3: Choose the Desired Action
Depending on your needs, select one of the available options:
Restart
Use this option to restart the Redis service.
A restart may be useful when:
- Configuration changes have been made.
- The service is not responding correctly.
- You need to refresh the Redis environment.
Stop
Use this option to stop the Redis service completely.
When Redis is stopped:
- Applications will no longer be able to use Redis caching.
- Requests relying on Redis may return errors if no fallback mechanism exists.
- Cached data stored in memory may become unavailable until the service is restarted.
Service Status
The selected action is executed immediately after confirmation.
After a few moments, the Redis status displayed in the panel will update accordingly.
When Should You Restart Redis?
Common scenarios include:
- Performance troubleshooting.
- Cache synchronization issues.
- Updating application settings.
- Maintenance operations.
- Resolving temporary service errors.
Important Notes
- Restarting Redis may temporarily interrupt applications that depend on it.
- Stopping Redis will disable caching functionality until the service is started again.
- Always verify that your application supports operation without Redis before stopping the service.
