CuteFTP Pro is an FTP client that allows you to connect to your hosting account and manage files stored on the server. Once configured, it can be used to upload website files, download backups, and organize directories remotely.
This setup only needs to be completed once. After the connection profile is created, you can reconnect whenever needed.

Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- an active hosting account
- an FTP account created in the mybox panel
- the FTP username and password
- CuteFTP Pro installed on your computer
Step 1: Open the Site Manager
Launch CuteFTP Pro.
Open the Site Manager and select the option to create a new FTP connection.
A new site configuration window will appear.
Step 2: Configure the connection
Enter the following information:
Host Address
your-domain.com
Enter the domain name associated with your hosting account.
Username
your FTP username
Use the FTP account login created in the mybox panel.
Password
your FTP password
Enter the password assigned to the FTP account.
Protocol
FTP
Port
21
In most cases, the default FTP port should remain unchanged.
Step 3: Configure transfer settings
Open the transfer or connection settings section and ensure:
Passive Mode (PASV): Enabled
Passive mode improves compatibility with routers, firewalls, and modern network configurations.
Step 4: Save the connection profile
After verifying all settings:
- Save the profile
- Close the configuration window
The new connection will appear in the Site Manager.
Step 5: Connect to the server
Select the saved profile and initiate the connection.
After successful authentication, the server directory structure will become visible and you can begin managing files.
Common actions include:
- uploading website files
- downloading backups
- creating directories
- renaming files
- deleting files
What is normal behavior?
The first connection may take a few seconds depending on network conditions.
If the connection cannot be established, verify:
- the FTP username
- the FTP password
- the domain name used as the host address
- that passive mode is enabled
- that the FTP account is active in the mybox panel
