The mybox webmail interface (available at mail.mybox.com) includes a “Trusted Senders” feature designed to protect your computer from malicious code. By default, our security system blocks remote resources-such as images and custom CSS styles-in incoming emails. This prevents senders from tracking when you open an email and protects you from potential viruses hidden in image metadata.
By adding a sender to your Trusted Senders list, you tell the system that you recognize the source and want to see the full, styled version of their messages automatically.

Changing Image Display Settings
You can customize how strictly mybox filters these resources. To adjust your global preferences:
- Log in to mail.mybox.com.
- Go to Settings > Preferences > Message Display.
- Locate the option Allow remote resources (images, styles) and choose one of the following:
- Never: All remote elements are blocked, regardless of the sender.
- From my contacts: Images display automatically only if the sender is in your main address book.
- From trusted senders: Images only display for addresses specifically added to the “Trusted” list.
- Always: All images load automatically (this provides the least protection).
How to Add a Sender to the Trusted List
There are two ways to designate a sender as trusted:
1. Directly from an Email When you open an email with blocked images, a notification bar will appear at the top of the message.
- Click Allow to display the images for that specific email only.
- Click Always allow from [email address] to automatically add that sender to your “Trusted Senders” list for all future messages.
2. Manual Management You can view and edit your list at any time:
- Go to the Contacts tab in the top navigation.
- In the list of address books on the left, select Trusted Senders.
- Here, you can manually add new addresses or delete old ones that you no longer wish to trust.
Distinction Block
Contacts vs. Trusted Senders Your Contacts list is your personal phonebook. The Trusted Senders list is a security whitelist. While they can overlap, keeping them separate allows you to save a contact’s info without necessarily giving their newsletters permission to bypass your image security filters.
Practical Implications
- Privacy Protection: Many marketing emails use “tracking pixels” (invisible images) to notify the sender the moment you open an email. By using the “From trusted senders” setting, you prevent this tracking from happening on emails you haven’t approved.
- Security Balance: We recommend the “From trusted senders” setting. This offers a high level of security against automated threats while ensuring your favorite newsletters and frequent collaborators always look correct.
- Maintenance: It is a good practice to review your Trusted Senders list every few months. If you no longer interact with a company or person, removing them from the list reduces your “attack surface” and keeps your inbox cleaner.
Summary
The Trusted Senders feature at mail.mybox.com is a vital part of your email infrastructure’s defense. By controlling which external resources are allowed to load, you significantly reduce the risk of data leaks and malware while maintaining a convenient reading experience for the senders you know and trust.
