Web hosting is a service that provides the server infrastructure required to make a website accessible on the internet. When you publish a website, its files, databases, and email data are stored on a server - hosting is what keeps that server running and connected to the network.
What hosting includes
A hosting environment typically provides space and resources for three core components:
- Website files - the code, images, and content that make up your site
- Databases - where your website stores dynamic data such as posts, products, or user accounts
- Email - mailboxes associated with your domain
At mybox, each of these components runs on separate server infrastructure - websites, databases, and email are handled independently. This improves performance and stability across all three services.
Hosting ≠ Domain
Hosting and a domain are two separate services that work together. Hosting provides the server environment where your website lives. A domain is the address (e.g. yoursite.com) that points visitors to that environment.
You can use hosting without a domain, and you can own a domain without hosting - but you need both to run a publicly accessible website. Learn more about the difference between a domain and hosting
How mybox hosting works
In traditional hosting models, users choose predefined plans with fixed resource limits. If a website exceeds those limits, the typical solution is to upgrade to a higher plan - often paying for resources that aren’t fully needed.
mybox uses a modular approach. Each plan is a starting configuration. Resources such as CPU, RAM, storage, or additional services can be expanded independently through add-ons - without switching plans or migrating data.

What this means in practice
Your hosting environment can grow alongside your project. If you need more storage but not more CPU, you add storage only. If your traffic increases, you add processing power. You adjust what you actually need, when you need it.
