To use Microsoft Office 365 email services with a domain managed in the mybox panel, you need to configure DNS records correctly. These records verify domain ownership and route email traffic to Microsoft’s mail servers.
Before starting, ensure that the domain is correctly added and verified in your Office 365 admin panel.
Table of Contents
Step 1: Add domain in Office 365
- Log in to the Office 365 admin dashboard
- Go to Settings → Domains
- Click + Add domain
- Enter your domain name and continue
Office 365 will generate a verification record (TXT) that must be added to your DNS zone.
Example:
- TXT name:
@ - TXT value:
MS=ms01234567 - TTL:
3600
Step 2: Add TXT verification record in the mybox panel
- Log in to the mybox panel
- Go to Domains
- Select your domain
- Open the Parked tab
- Click Manage DNS
- Add a new TXT record using the values provided by Office 365
This confirms domain ownership.
Step 3: Configure Office 365 DNS mode
In Office 365:
- select I manage my DNS records
- continue to the next step to retrieve required DNS entries
Step 4: Configure MX record
Add the MX record provided by Office 365 in the mybox panel.
Example:
your-domain.com MX 0 your-domain.mail.protection.outlook.com 900 After adding the MX record:
- remove existing mail-related MX records from mybox to avoid conflicts
Step 5: Add required CNAME records
Typical Office 365 CNAME records include:
- autodiscover → autodiscover.outlook.com
- sip → sipdir.online.lync.com
- lyncdiscover → webdir.online.lync.com
- enterpriseregistration → enterpriseregistration.windows.net
- enterpriseenrollment → enterpriseenrollment.manage.microsoft.com
Step 6: Add SPF record
SPF helps prevent email spoofing.
Example:
v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all Step 7: Add SRV records
Office 365 may require SRV records for communication services:
Example:
_sip._tls SRV 1 443 sipdir.online.lync.com
_sipfederationtls._tcp SRV 1 5061 sipfed.online.lync.com Step 8: Verify domain in Office 365
After all DNS records are added:
- return to the Office 365 admin panel
- click Verify
If verification fails:
- wait for DNS propagation (can take several minutes to a few hours)
Practical implications
Correct DNS configuration ensures:
- email delivery through Microsoft servers
- proper Outlook and mobile device synchronization
- domain ownership validation
- secure email authentication
Summary
To use Office 365 email with a domain in the mybox panel, you must verify domain ownership and configure DNS records (TXT, MX, CNAME, SPF, and SRV). After propagation, Office 365 will activate email services for the domain.
