By default, the Mail app on macOS automatically assigns a “Sent” folder. However, you may occasionally need to manually redefine this folder to ensure that messages sent from your Mac are correctly synced with mybox webmail and your other devices.
This process maps a specific folder on the server to the “Sent” function in your email client, maintaining a consistent communication history across all platforms.

Step-by-Step Configuration
To designate a specific folder for sent messages on your Apple computer:
- Open the Mail app.
- In the top menu bar, click Mail and select Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Click the Accounts tab and select the mybox email account you wish to configure from the sidebar.
- Select the Mailbox Behaviors tab.
- Locate the Sent Mailbox dropdown menu.
- Choose the desired folder from the list. To ensure synchronization across devices, select a folder under the Server header rather than “On My Mac.”
What to expect
Once selected, Apple Mail will immediately begin saving all future outgoing messages to that specific folder on the mybox server.
If you previously had sent messages stored in a different folder, they will remain there. To consolidate your history, you can manually drag those messages into your newly defined Sent folder within the Mail app.
Practical Implications
- Cross-Device Consistency: When you define the folder on the server, a message sent from your Mac will appear in the “Sent” folder when you log in via a browser or your smartphone.
- Storage Management: Messages saved “On the Server” count toward your mybox email storage limit, whereas “On My Mac” saves them only to your computer’s hard drive.
- Search Accuracy: Correctly mapping this folder allows the Mail app’s search filters to accurately distinguish between sent and received correspondence.
