Domain lifecycle
In the case of Internet domains, it should be remembered that they have a so-called life cycle. When, after searching for a domain name that interests us, it turns out that it is free to register and we buy it, we become domain registrants for the period for which it was registered and paid for by us.
Registration
When searching for a domain, it is worth paying attention to its status, which is communicated by the search engine, because we can often come across information that the domain is available for transfer. This means that such a domain is already registered either in mybox.com or with another service provider and thus it is not possible to buy / register it.
.RO Domains

A .RO domain can be registered for a minimum period of one year. When renewing the domain, the validity period can be extended for 1 to 10 years, depending on your preference.
The lifecycle of a .RO domain is as follows:
- Domain registration
The domain is registered and becomes active after payment confirmation. - Active subscription period
The domain remains active for the selected registration period (minimum 1 year). - Grace period (typically 0–45 days after expiration)
If the domain is not renewed before its expiration date, it may enter a grace period.
During this time:- The website and email services may stop working.
- The domain can still be renewed by the current owner.
- Standard renewal fees usually apply.
- Redemption period (if applicable, depending on registrar policy)
If the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it may enter a redemption phase.- Restoration is still possible.
- An additional redemption fee may apply.
- Release and public availability
If the domain is not restored within the allowed time, it will be deleted and returned to the pool of available domains, meaning it can be registered by anyone.
.PL Domains

We can register a .PL domain by default for a period of one year, but when extending its validity, it is possible for the subscription period to be extended from 1 to even 10 years. The lifecycle of a .PL domain is as follows:
1. Domain registration.
2. Subscription period of 365 days.
3. Quarantine period lasting 30 days, when the domain is blocked due to lack of payment, so neither the website nor the mail located under it works, but we have not lost the domain itself yet and during this period it is possible to renew it and thus reactivate it.
4. In the event that no fee is paid within 30 days of quarantine, on the 31st day the domain will be released and will return to the pool of addresses available for registration by each person or company interested in the domain.
.EU domains

A .EU domain can be registered by default for a period of one year, but when extending its validity, it is possible to extend the subscription period from 1 to even 10 years. The lifecycle of a .EU domain name is as follows:
1. Domain registration.
2. Subscription period of 365 days.
3. Quarantine period lasting 40 days, when the domain is blocked due to lack of payment, so neither the website nor the mail located under it works, but we have not lost the domain itself yet and during this period it is possible to renew it and thus reactivate it.
4. In the event that no fee is paid within 40 days of quarantine, the domain will be released on the 41st day and will return to the pool of addresses available for registration by each person or company interested in the domain.
Global domains .COM, .NET, .ORG

Global domains can be registered by default for a period of one year, but when extending its validity, it is possible to extend the subscription period from 1 to even 10 years. The lifecycle of global domains is as follows:
1. Domain registration.
2. Subscription period of 365 days.
3. The quarantine period lasts up to a maximum of 80 days, but it is worth noting that this period is divided into three stages:
Stage I – the so-called Grace Period lasts about 30 days, depending on where the domain was registered. The domain is then blocked due to non-payment, but it is waiting for the subscriber’s decision and during this period it is possible to extend its validity and thus unlock it without incurring additional costs, exceeding the standard renewal amount of this type of domain. In the case of nTLDs (new Top-Level Domains), this period may vary, but it closes in a maximum window of up to 45 days.
Stage II – is referred to as the Redemption Period and lasts 30 days. At this time, of course, the domain is not active, so the website or e-mail still does not work, but if the subscriber decides to renew it, it will be associated with an additional cost related to changing the status of the domain according to the price list. Usually, the amount of domain renewal and reactivation during this period is several times higher than the standard renewal.
Stage III – the so-called Pending Delete is a period of 5 days when the domain is in the process of definitive deletion and at this point it is no longer possible to renew and reactivate it. After the indicated 5 days, the domain is released and returns to the pool of addresses available for registration by any interested person or company.
