Before You Begin
Before installing October CMS, make sure you have:
- Added a website in the Websites section of the mybox Panel.
- Created a blank website.
- Created a MySQL database if you plan to use MySQL.
- FTP access to your hosting account.
Step 1: Download the October CMS Installer
Visit the official October CMS website:

Download Installer A ZIP archive containing the installer will be downloaded to your computer.
Step 2: Upload the Installer Files
Extract the downloaded ZIP archive.
Next, connect to your hosting account using an FTP client such as:
- WinSCP

Navigate to your website’s document root directory.
By default, this is:
public_html Upload all extracted installer files to this directory.
Step 3: Launch the Installer
After uploading the files, open your website in a web browser using:
https://yourdomain.com/install.php The October CMS installation wizard will start.
Step 4: Accept the License Agreement
The installer will verify the server environment and display the license agreement.
Review the information and click:
Agree & Continue to proceed.
Step 5: Configure the Database
October CMS supports multiple database types.
Option A: MySQL
If you want to use a MySQL database, enter:
- Database Host
- Database Name
- Database Username
- Database Password
These values can be found in the mybox Panel when creating the database.
Option B: SQLite
If you prefer not to use MySQL, you can select:
SQLite October CMS will create and manage a local file-based database automatically.
After selecting the desired database type and entering the required information, click:
Continue Step 6: Create the Administrator Account
Enter the details for the first administrator account:
- Username
- Password
- Email address
These credentials will be used to access the October CMS administration panel.
Once completed, click:

You now have several installation options.
Start from Scratch
Installs a clean October CMS installation without any sample content.
Start from a Theme
Installs a ready-made theme and sample content to help you get started quickly.
Use a Project ID
Allows you to install a project previously created through the October CMS platform.
For most users, selecting:
Start from a Theme is the easiest option.
Step 8: Install a Theme
If you selected a theme installation, browse the available templates and choose the one that best suits your project.
Click:
Install The installer will download and configure the selected theme automatically.
Step 9: Wait for Installation to Complete
October CMS will now:
- Install core files
- Configure the database
- Install selected themes and modules
- Create the administrator account
Depending on the selected theme and your connection speed, this process may take several minutes.
Step 10: Access the Website and Backend
Once installation is complete, the installer will display links to:
- Your website
- The administration panel
By default, the backend is available at:
https://yourdomain.com/backend Use the administrator credentials created earlier to log in.
Important Security Step
After the installation is complete, October CMS may display a reminder to remove installer files.
For security reasons, delete any installation files that are no longer required.
This helps prevent unauthorized access to the installation wizard.
First Login
After logging in, you can begin configuring:
- Site settings
- Languages
- Themes
- Plugins
- User accounts
- Content pages
October CMS is now ready for use.
