Accessing Discount Code Settings
Log in to your PrestaShop administration panel and navigate to:
Catalog → Discounts
Open the Cart Rules tab and click:
Add New Cart Rule
A new rule configuration page will appear with three main sections:
- Information
- Conditions
- Actions
Information Tab
The Information tab contains the basic settings for the discount code.
Name
Enter a descriptive name for the promotion.

Description
This field is optional and is used for internal administration purposes.
Discount Code
You can either:
- Enter a custom code manually

For fixed-amount discounts, this option allows any unused portion of the discount to be carried over for future purchases.
Example:
- Discount value: €20
- Cart value: €15
The remaining €5 can be saved for future use.
Priority
If multiple discount codes can be applied to the same cart, PrestaShop uses priority values to determine which rule is processed first.
Lower numbers have higher priority.
Example:
1 = highest priority
2 = second priority

Enable or disable the discount code.
Only active rules can be used by customers.
Conditions Tab
The Conditions tab determines when and by whom the discount code can be used.
Restrict to a Specific Customer
You can assign the code to a single registered customer.

Validity Period
Set the start and end dates for the promotion.
After the expiration date, the code will no longer work.

Actions Tab
The Actions tab defines the actual benefit provided by the discount code.
Free Shipping
Enable this option if the code should waive shipping charges.
Apply a Discount
Choose the discount type:
Percentage Discount
Example:
10% The customer receives a 10% discount on the eligible products.
Fixed Amount Discount
Example:
€20 The customer receives a fixed €20 reduction.
Apply Discount To
You can choose where the discount applies:
- Entire order
- Specific product
- Cheapest product in the cart
- Selected products
Exclude Discounted Products
This option determines whether products already on sale are included in the discount calculation.
- Yes – Sale products are excluded.
- No – Sale products remain eligible for the discount.
Send a Free Gift
You can automatically add a free product to the order when the code is used.
