Toggle the Proxy Status<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look for the <strong>Proxy status<\/strong> column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Orange Cloud:<\/strong> Traffic is proxied through Cloudflare (CDN, WAF, and Caching are ON).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gray Cloud:<\/strong> Traffic goes directly to your <strong>mybox<\/strong> server (Cloudflare only acts as a DNS provider).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_bd5674ff20bca128-221\">Click the <strong>Edit<\/strong> button on that specific row, then click the <strong>Orange Cloud icon<\/strong> to turn it <strong>Gray<\/strong>.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Save Changes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_bd5674ff20bca128-222\">Click <strong>Save<\/strong>. The cloud icon will now be gray, and the status will change to <strong>DNS only<\/strong>.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Important_Security_Implications\"><\/span><strong>Important: Security Implications<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_bd5674ff20bca128-223\">When you &#8220;Gray Cloud&#8221; a subdomain, you are exposing your <strong>mybox origin IP address<\/strong> to the public internet.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DDoS Risk:<\/strong> That specific subdomain will no longer be protected by Cloudflare\u2019s DDoS mitigation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SSL\/TLS:<\/strong> You must ensure that your <strong>mybox<\/strong> server has a valid SSL certificate (like Let&#8217;s Encrypt) installed locally, as Cloudflare&#8217;s &#8220;Universal SSL&#8221; will no longer be encrypting the traffic for that subdomain.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Troubleshooting_Why_is_it_still_proxied\"><\/span><strong>Troubleshooting: Why is it still proxied?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve turned the cloud gray but still see Cloudflare headers in your browser, check the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Local DNS Cache:<\/strong> Your computer might still be remembering the old Cloudflare IP. Open your terminal and run <code>ipconfig \/flushdns<\/code> (Windows) or <code>sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder<\/code> (Mac).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Browser Cache:<\/strong> Hard-refresh your browser (<code>Ctrl + F5<\/code> or <code>Cmd + Shift + R<\/code>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CNAME Flattening:<\/strong> If your subdomain is a CNAME pointing to the root domain, and the root domain is proxied, the subdomain might still inherit the proxy.
