SSL<\/strong> (Secure Socket Layer<\/strong>) – a protocol used to securely transmit encrypted data. This protocol operates in a client-server architecture and focuses mainly on verifying the server to which the client wants to establish a connection (second-party authorization is also possible with an additional three requests). SSL uses previously known algorithms and techniques for data encryption (symmetric and asymmetric encryption).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protocol itself is the result of the merger of two smaller groups of subprotocols – SSL Handshake<\/strong>, SSL Alert Protocol<\/strong>, SSL Change Cipher<\/strong> , and SSL Record Protocol<\/strong>.
The parameter that determines the strength of SSL encryption is the length of the key. For asymmetric keys, NIST currently recommends a key length of 2048 bits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n
