Domain parking and domain registration are two separate actions that are easy to confuse. This article explains what each one means and how they relate to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking a domain means adding a domain name to your mybox panel \u2014 even if that domain is registered and maintained with a different provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you park a domain, you are telling the mybox system that you plan to use this address for a website or email hosted here. To make that possible, you need to update the domain’s DNS servers at your current registrar to point to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once the DNS servers are updated, mybox becomes responsible for the domain’s DNS zone \u2014 the set of records that control how the domain behaves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • A<\/strong> \u2014 points the domain to the IP address of your server<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • CNAME<\/strong> \u2014 redirects subdomains (e.g., www, blog, shop) to the main domain<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • MX<\/strong> \u2014 specifies the mail servers handling email for the domain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The DNS zone only becomes active after the DNS servers have been correctly pointed to mybox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Why park a domain before changing DNS?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Parking allows you to prepare your hosting environment in advance. Once a domain appears in your panel, you can create a website or install WordPress before the DNS change takes effect. This is useful for avoiding downtime during migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Adding a domain as parked does not mean you own it. You can technically park any domain name \u2014 including one that doesn’t exist or belongs to someone else. If the domain isn’t yours, it simply won’t work. Being listed in your mybox panel does not make mybox your registrar.<\/div><\/div>

      What is domain registration?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Registering a domain means purchasing the right to use a domain name. Once you complete registration and payment, you become the domain subscriber \u2014 the only person authorized to manage and configure it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      A domain registered through mybox automatically appears in your panel and in the list of suggested addresses when adding a new website or installing a CMS. It is also delegated to mybox DNS servers by default, so no additional steps are needed on your part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If needed, you can change the DNS servers to external ones at any time from your mybox panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
