It connects to a server using <strong>DNS<\/strong> (<em>Domain Name System<\/em>), which translates the domain name into a server&#8217;s IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without hosting, a domain does nothing on its own \u2014 it is simply a name that points to a location on the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Website\"><\/span><strong>Website<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>website<\/strong> is the content people see and interact with online \u2014 pages, images, text, forms, and applications such as an e-commerce store, blog, or portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A website is made of files: <em>HTML<\/em>, <em>CSS<\/em>, <em>JavaScript<\/em>, images, and databases. Those files must be stored on a server to be accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Web_server\"><\/span><strong>Web server<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>web server<\/strong> is the computer that stores your website files and delivers them to visitors.
